University Lab Partners

Fabrication Assistant Internship (2020-2021)

University Lab Partners is a non-profit project of the Beall Family Foundation. It is similar to a startup incubator through providing many life science and medical technology companies access to a complete workspace, equipment, research capabilities, and much more. However, it does not take any ownership of the company or any company stock in exchange for usage of the facility.

As the Fabrication Assistant, I was responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of ULP's Fabrication Bay. I was the first point of contact for any assistance, training, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the laboratory's laser cutter, FDM and SLA 3D printers, and other equipment.

In this job, I helped to resolve issues with the facility's autoclave, multiple FDM and SLA 3D printers, laser cutter, Instron material tester, and other machines. Additionally, I got to train multiple people from the facility's startup companies on the proper usage of all the machinery and provide guidance on their projects, which includes microfluidic devices, printed circuit boards, filtering systems, and more.
